African Independence Workforce Program (AIWP)
AIWP is part of a process of the black community receiving our brothers and sisters back into the community to reverse the damage done by the prison system that has always been used as a colonial tool against the African community.
The African Independence Workforce Program responds to a real and ongoing need. Decades of mass incarceration and disinvestment have fractured families, reduced opportunity and weakened economic stability across African communities.
AIWP creates a structured path for welcoming people back into community life with training, work experience and practical support that helps reverse that damage.
The program addresses the reality that incarceration has impacted African communities at a sharply disproportionate rate and continues to shape employment, housing and long-term financial security.
As living costs rise and neighborhood resources remain uneven, programs like AIWP matter because they connect people to skills, wages and participation in local development.
Our goal is to create pathways into employment, responsibility and shared prosperity for returning residents and for the broader community around them.
